New to this forum, so thanks in advance for any help.
I have been fixing appliances since I was a kid, working with my Dad, so I'm not a complete noob to this.
Great old machine that I expect to keep forever, as long as rebuild parts are available.
Over the years, I have replaced most of the wear parts, bearings, seals etc.
Matag LAT8705AAE moderately out of balance on spin even with no clothing load.
Replaced springs, damper pads and re level feet with no change.
The only wild card is the transmission balance. CLUE: out of balance point on drum changes with each wash/spin cycle. I tried to balance drum for testing, using magnets on inside of drum, only to find the balance point changes.
Trans is flat on one side with cover and seal and cone like on opposite side. Is it possible that a slow oil leak has allowed enough trans oil to leak out and the remaining oil is migrating to the cone end during a spin cycle to create the off balance?
There is some oil staining on the inside of the cabinet, but there is some on every one I have ever been inside.
If the oil is the issue, How full should the trans be?
