Roper/Kenmore/Whirlpool Dual Action Agitator Only Spinning One Direction?

I repair appliances for friends, family and sometimes at work. I have run into a situation where I have come across several "dual action" agitating washers that only spin one direction. The bottom agitator does spin back and forth but the top just spins and spins in one direction. Is this how it's supposed to work? Growing up with an older Kenmore 80 series washer I'd often watch the top agitator spin back and forth. I thought this is how most all agitators functioned. It is my understanding if the agitator spins one direction then clothes and towels will get twisted up.

I filmed a short video clip to demonstrate what I'm referring to. I'm just looking for someone to either tell me if it's working properly or if not what might be causing the issue.

https://youtu.be/eCUPx1QvSBc

Any help would be thoroughly appreciated.

Washer won't spin/drain

Any ideas?

Under the model number, the serial number is XC52213097 and 0505.

Does that mean it was manufactured in 2005?

I was going to replace the Dispenser to Tub Hose because of a hole in it.
That's all I knew that needed to be repaired.

There were times when the washer didn't drain properly in the past and I removed some of the clothes and then it worked properly.

WF42H5200A2 Samsung front load washer tub support

Hi, I have a question (a couple, actually) about the internal support of the wash tub in this (or perhaps any) Samsung front load washer...

From what I've seen, the tub has 6 points of support. On top it hangs from two springs, one on either side of the main cabinet. On the bottom of the tub, 4 shock absorbers attach to it, 2 front, 2 rear. From what I read/see, these shock absorbers are not hydraulic types, i.e., there is no "springiness" to them; they are not designed to support any weight, they simply resist movement in either direction. So I conclude from this that the shocks are not intended to support any part of the weight of the wash tub. Which would mean it is only the two top springs that hold the tub "up". I'm guessing that in its normal position, the tub should sit at a height such that the shocks would be close to their mid-position (perhaps a little higher, to account for the weight of the laundry load). But on my unit the tub, when empty, is very close to bottoming out on the shocks. With a laundry load in it, it does sink enough such that it is actually resting on the shocks and they then have little-to-no effect on absorbing vibrations.

Is this a correct analysis? If so, it seems like the suspension springs may have stretched out and/or weakened with age. Is that possible? I see nothing anywhere which would allow me to adjust the height of the tub.

Thanks for any insight.

Clicking in first agitation cycle.

I have a Kenmore 110.1882700 top loading washing machine. Last week I replaced the motor, (It had a burnt smell); and the water pump, (while I was at it). At the same time I also replaced the cam agitator kit, because a few dogs had broken off.
Well, less than a week later I get a clicking sound ONLY during the first agitation cycles. Also, before the clicking starts, I get a light metallic sound coming from somewhere in the drive train, (I think). I just rechecked and reset the cam agitator kit, (even though it looked fine). I haven’t dismantled the machine again, yet.
Do you think my problem is with the transmission, the clutch or the washer drive and brake assembly? I don’t have a clue. I’m prepared to replace all three in one swoop rather than fine tune it because my machine is ten years old and they don’t manufacture decent 24” top loading machines anymore; (the only size that will fit in my small condo washer closet). And I would rather refurbish, than go with a front loader. (I don’t like the idea of having to open the door with the machine half full some day with water leaking down on a litigious neighbor. Also, the 24" models aren't getting rave reviews and they require more expensive detergent). ) So do you think that might solve my problem or should I start with something simpler?
One more thing. The last time I had it apart I found that the basket was stuck on the machine. I saw a video online using the special nut remover tool, (which I have), 2 c-clamps, and a bar of metal, to pry it loose. Does that sound about right? (I will need to remove the basket to change the aforementioned parts, if necessary). So if you could point to a better video if this method doesn't sound right that would be nice.
This is the basket removal video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6iyR8KcqMQ)
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Cleaning Washer door boot seal (bellow)

I've tried just about every technique listed online and I can't get this mildew, mold off the boot seal.

Anyone have a tried/tested/successful method in cleaning the boot seal?

Thanks in advance,

Samsung top load washer - WA48J7700AW/A2 02 Does weird things

MODEL WA48J7700AW/A2 02
Serial # 0E6E5AUH506825Z

Does weird things. Pulsator during sensing makes a noise and will not spin entirely left to right, but sort of does a mere shake.
Next, sits there for 3-4 mins. eventually it starts filling water, no error code.

Replaced the motor actuator so far, I'm thinking the main control board failure.

Any ideas

WF42H5000AW/A Samsung Washer won't start.

I picked this washer up at an auction. It has a built date of July 2017. It will power up and on every cycle after it Powers up and the door will lock and then the pump starts. It doesn't go pass that. I was lucky enough to have another washer just like it for parts. I read on another forum that it was the door lock, so I replaced it. Didn't help, they also said it could be the control panel, I replace it and it didn't work. I tried to reset it, that didn't help either. I'm at a stand still. It doesn't show any codes.

Whirlpool WTW5000DW0- wash plate spins freely

My 5 year old washer has recently started making a terriblly loud grinding noise during agitation. The wash plate will spin freely- I removed last night and the teeth are not completely smooth so I’m not sure if this is the issue or not. When I put the plate back and tightened the bolt it had resistance and would move the tub when I tried spinning the plate by hand. After one load of wash though the plate is back to spinning freely. Not sure if I should replace the hub and the wash plate, or just the wash plate?

10 year old Kenmore W10140919A does not start, time to throw in the towel?

My 10+ years old Kenmore W10140919A does not start. Not a sound when using the dial, have checked the electrical connection.

So for someone not overly mechanically gifted is it time to throw in the towel? Though I hate having to buy new appliances IF there is chance there is something I could try to fix..

Thank you all!

GE HydroWave Washer stops after Wash cycle

My GE Hydrowave washer stops working after completing the drain portion of the wash cycle. This occurs about 22-25 minutes into the run time from the initial Fill. The agitator works as it should through the wash mode and if I turn the machine off as soon as the water drains and let it sit for 45 minutes I can then change the wash selection to quick rinse and it will finish the cycle including the spin cycle. If I don’t stop it at the end of the wash cycle the machine only makes noise (after completing the wash cycle and drain) for a few minutes and then cuts off. If I try to change was selection at this point it just goes back to trying the wash mode but only makes noise and no water, spin, or draining of water.
I read several posts and this is what I think i know:
The red light on the motor blinks a full second and is continuous. From what I have read this means it is not detecting a fault code.
I have also tried the one minute motor reset but this does not work. It goes back to being stuck at the end of the wash mode each attempt.
I pulled the vacuum hose and made sure it was clean and reinstalled. Nothing changed.
I disconnected the hoses and pulled the water inlet valve out, cleaned the filters, and reinstalled. Problem still exists.
The belt is connected properly and is in good condition.
This washer required installation of a new control board within the first 90 days that we owned it. The machine had totally quit working when that solution was rendered. It has worked as it should since that repair four years ago.
I am thinking it may be the control panel again or possibly the timer? Any suggestions are always appreciated. Thanks.

Crosley CFW-8000GS Front loading washer

I have a broken door latch on a Crosley CFW-8000GS. I cannot locate the part anywhere. If anyone can offer assistance it would be greatly appreciated. part numbers are 3613100800 and 3619046410.

3619046410 this is available through the manufacturer but I need to replace both. I have reached out to Appliance Parts Pros, Sears Direct, and a regional supplier.

spin action locked up, will not spin, burns belt - most likely diagnosis?

After minor top disassembly to clean out gunk (mainly under agitator), the washer starting failing: squealing and burning belt. Mechanical operation was just fine before this. (frustrating) I have carefully replaced the following:
  • both belts
  • motor rack "glides" and springs, well lubricated (for better belt tension)
  • mounting stem and tub bearing

None of which has solved the problem. Further symptoms: When drive pulley rotated by hand in one direction, agitator oscillates as expected. (agitator also OK when run from cycle with water) When turned in the other direction, a delay; then starts to feel like it's engaging something but then feels locked up. Seems logical this is when the belt starts to slip and burn.

Is this trouble inside the transmission? If so, is that (practically speaking) the Death Knell? (not worth cost/trouble/mess to fix, even if do-it-yourself).
--Thanks--
