GWL15 Fisher & Paykel top load washer won't drain water

I have a fisher & paykel top load washer that wont drain the water. At first it wasn't wanting to spin I had to keep restarting it over and over to get it thru the cycle. now its full of water and I tried putting it on every cycle but it wont empty the water out. Before the draining problem started when it just wasn't wanting to spin, but it was still draining, when Id turn the machines power on it was quiet, but when I would hit the start button it makes a moderately high pitch sound ???? please help if you know anything and thank you. I also pulled off a round cap of some kind off the bottom of the washer, which has some kind of magnetically ran system underneath, with copper wire and metal blocks, in the center of the part that remains on the washer when the cover is removed there are cracks in the casing with the metal blocks, Im wondering if that's the problem??? sorry im not mechanical, I raise 2 small grand kids of mine on my own on a very small fixed income and cannot afford a repair man of any kind, which is why Im hoping someone on here can help give me an idea of what to do ?? please and thank you .

W1460 AEG lavamat circuit board transformer

Hello
I have recently replaced the drum bearings and seal on my AEG W1460 washer. I admit I must have done it late... very late. when I took it apart the bearings were all seized up and ground to powder. I got them out with great difficulty, and put the machine back together. When I turned it to spin, ooo... what a difference... probably didn't work like that when it was new. But when I turned it to wash, after 30 seconds of filling, it started beeping, the drain pump turned on, and the end light turned on. checked all the wiring and pressure switch tubing and all little thingamabobs. I thought it was the heater but on rinse it does the same thing. Funny thing: when I disconnect the heating element, it will just fill until... well it just fills until I stop it or it overflows and does nothing else. well, during the last wash before the bearing service someone mentioned that the area around the circuit board got too hot. I pulled the board and found a lot of soot around some kind of transformer. the core of the transformer was cracked. I dug all over the internet for that transformer but I cannot find it. it is a hartu 716278-51. the board is an electrolux ewm1000. any help with finding the specs of the transformer or problem would be appreciated. I will post some pictures shortly.

Kenmore Washer model 796.40272900 Leaking from rear

Our washing machine has developed a small leak in the rear of the machine. I took the back plate off and ran a load of clothes. As you look from the rear of the machine, the lower right hand of the outer tub assembly is dripping a small amount of water... enough to make a small puddle every load. I've attached pictures of where the leak is. I can't feel any water above this area so it appears this is where the water is exiting. Any idea what is causing this? More important, can I tackle this myself, or should I call a repair person?

Thank you!

Washer will not agitate

Washer will not agitate. With clothes in dryer the agitator does not move. When washer is empty, the agitator will move back and forth. I have looked up repairs on RepairClinic. I need help narrowing down the cause. It needs A) Agitator repair kit B) Agitator replacement C) a Drive Block Ball or some combination. The motor seems to be fine, no problem in spin cycle. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

SFNLCFSP111TW Front Loader Sometimes Leaves Load Very Wet

One of the washers in our building is a Speed Queen front loader, although on the back, after checking the model, it says Alliance.

Looks like: http://www.speedqueenserviceparts.co...d-washers.aspx.

It used to work fine. Sometimes, with regular loads, the cycle will finish and the clothes are very wet. It is intermittent.

Usually I will see a code after the cycle finishes, 'E U6': http://ift.tt/2l2EvjA.

Anyone know why that is and how to fix it?

WM3470HVA LG washer will not drain during cycle, pump works fine, hoses are clear.

I have a front load LG washer manufactured in 2014. Yesterday I washed a load and when I went to throw it in the dryer I found water and soap on the floor and the drum still full of water. There is no error code showing up but the washer is not draining. I drained it manually, checked for clogged hose and cleaned the lint trap. There is no blockage and the lint trap was very clean as I clean it once a month. Did some searching and found a procedure to try on the LG website, as follows:

Press the POWER button to turn the washer on.
Press the RINSE & SPIN button.
Press the START/PAUSE button.
Wait for the washer to fill and begin the rinse agitation.
Press the START/PAUSE button to pause the cycle, then press the POWER button to turn the washer off.
Press the POWER button to turn the washer back on.
Press the SPIN SPEED button to select a high spin speed. This will perform a spin only cycle.
Press the START/PAUSE button.
The washer will begin to drain the water from the washer and will begin spinning.

Following this procedure the machine drains and spins fine, so the pump is working.
However if I just select the Rinse & Spin cycle and let it run the washer will fill and begin agitation, it will then normally drain some water and add more water while agitating for several minutes. This does not happen, the washer begins agitation and when it would normally drain there is no hum or anything then more water is added, it will keep adding water but none is drained.
I tried several different cycles and none will drain except when following the above procedure and going directly to a spin cycle. Seems to me the pump is not getting a signal (power) to allow it to drain. Sounds like a control board problem. Does anyone know how to check the board? Is there perhaps something else I'm missing?

Thanks

Advice needed on washer/dryer sets

Seasons greeting everyone! This seems to be the time of the year when all the machines tend to break down. My wife and I manage 10 rental units on Kauai. I also do the maintenance on them. Since the guys who fix them know what to avoid I need to ask a general question regard washers and dryers. Since all machines will need maintenance at times, which machines have the least maintenance, easiest to repair and ready availability of parts. What brands and or models should I avoid. This is mostly at this time due to a broken GE stackable W & D unit that failed, but in general for all major appliances is there a brand or model that seems to keep running after others have quit.

Thanks in advance for your input
Jim

GE stack gud27essj0ww

I have a issue with a ge stack washer and dryer. The stack will fill with water and attempt to agitate. Moving only slightly one direction then slightly the other a handful of times then stops and you have to press the start button again. The washer will spin and drain normally. Lid switch is working properly. There was a leak in the main tub seal a few month ago so it has a brand new tub/ motor assembly transmission clutch etc. Has anyone seen this problem before and can you offer any advice. GWL11 Fisher & Paykel Washer Spin issue

Having a problem with 15 year old F&P GWL11 washer. First issue I've had. Trying to decide whether it is worth spending money on a washer this old. The symptoms are slow spinning in the spin stage, lack of complete water discharge and a slight electrical smell. I went in the diagnostic mode and got an binary error code of 00100101 (translates to 37) which suggests blocked pump issues. Tipped up the machine and removed the drain pump. It spins freely and didn't find any foreign item or major gunk interfering with it. Can't find any blockage in the drain hose either. Any other ideas other than replacing parts like the drain pump, motor control module. Opinion of how much is with investing in a machine this old?

Thanks

Bosch WFL2063GB Suspension Replacement

Hi

recently when using the machine with a full-ish load i get a loud knocking just as it starts the spin cycle

upon inspecting the springs and suspension it does appear that the suspension legs are extremely loose to move in and out.

when looking how to replace the suspension struts (on similar models) its advised to remove the bolts and pull out the plastic pin

when looking at my model is seems that the pin is moulded and not like others ive seen

can anyone advise how to replace these type of shocks easily or is it a complete machine dismantle

many thanks

Speed queen AWN412 hub seal

small intermittent leak bottom of the machine, onto floor. On investigation, looks like the hub seal is leaking, wet around it and has been spraying onto transmission, inner wall, etc. i have done a number of small appliance repairs but this one seems daunting. I live in a remote area, it's hard to get in-home service here.

Can i get this? I have ordered a hub seal kit, and the proper 3m sealant. Do I do the bearing at the same time, perhaps that comes in the kit. Or not. I have watched a few videos in preparation for said event. Need encouragement or a reality check lol.

LG WM2487HWMA Front loading washer making strange noise

Hi,
A few days ago our washer started making a strange noise. It sounded like a train was running in our kitchen (The washer is in the basement, under the kitchen).
Last night I had some time to look at it more, but am not sure what is causing the problem.
I did a small load on fast setting. When the water was coming in (Rinse cycle) and then draining is when I really noticed the noise.
Most people have suggested the bearings, but when it spins I definitely do not hear the same type of noise. I think it is something with either the supply or the draining.
Here is what I did:
Cleaned the gasket and drain holes.
Cleaned the pump filter, and emptied the water.
Removed and re-seated the hoses (only did the supply side, not the washer side).
Tightened the hoses on the washer side.

There is definitely some play in the drum, and it spins freely.
It seems to me if I was hearing the noise on the spin cycle that would indicate the bearings.
The noise happens when water is filling/emptying, when the drum is not moving.
I should add it does not leak anyplace. In addition everything else seems to be working as usual, except for the loud noise.

I will take some better notes this evening on the exact scenario, but wanted to get some ideas of what I should go after next.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Maytag Epic Z Drain Pump Motor

I had the drain pump motor malfunction and throw a code. The impeller was broken from the motor shaft. I got a new one and installed it. It pumps fine and does not leak. However I am seeing water inside the plastic encapsulated motor. I can see it through the translucent plastic about one half inch up from the bottom of the motor housing. Is this normal for cooling the motor or is there an internal leak in this new motor housing? I looked at the old one and that had gunky water in that one also. What's up?

Ge. HE WASHING MACHINE

So tonight I was filling my machine, per directions. As I was filling it turns off completely. So we pressed the start button again. It starts but continually turns off, no matter which cycle it is in. We tried the reset process and it did not fix the issue. It is a ge profile top load washer. We are currently, trying to fill to rinse but it keeps shutting down and all the lights come on. Please someone help, this is the absolute worst time for us and I can't imagine having to pay to go to the laundry. I can't afford a new machine, much less a repair tech. Any advice and answers are more than appreciated. ****Now it will not even advance to the spin cycle. So a machine full of wet jeans, is what my night consists of.

Default leak from hose on top of barrel

Frigidaire washer model CRTF1240AS0

We recently had an item jam the drain pump area. After clearing it out and reattaching the hoses, we checked for leaks. We found a leak, but it appears to be coming from another place. After removing the top cover and watching the washer during the entire cycle, It appears the hose on the top of the barrel leaks during the high spin cycle. It leaves the bottom of the washer damp, but it dries in an hour or so I am guessing this has been going on a a bit, as it would be hard to detect without opening the washer up.

Here is the hose in question:
http://ift.tt/2AvAJ8E

Does anyone know if this is a common location for a leak? I can't pinpoint exactly where the leak is coming from, but I am pretty sure it is something with this hose. Is the replacement of this part relatively straightforward and can be done by a non-professional?

thank you in advance.

WM3670HWA LG Washing Machine Hot Water Hose Noisy and Vibrating

Hi,

I purchased a new LG washing machine and had it installed. When installed the hot water hose was making a loud vibrating noise (like a machine gun) while the tub was filling. The installer said it was air in the line and would go away. Well I've done many loads and it's the same. Someone suggested it was water hammer, but my understanding is that water hammer is when the valve turns off, not when water is filling the tub. I'll be calling the company to send someone out, but wanted to run it by here for any ideas as to what it may be. I tried moving the hose while it was doing it, but this has no affect. I did find a youtube video online that displays the same issue I am having, but there were no responses as to what it is. Thanks for your help.

Over-voltage damage

In late summer, the house of my mothers' girlfriend suffered damage to the incoming main power line. The neutral line broke and shorted to one of the legs, resulting in the entire house receiving 220V instead of 110V. The damage was really random, but the major appliances damaged was a microwave and this GE washer.

I assume the main computer board was fried and I can get a replacement, but I've hesitated to do so if the motor / pump was also destroyed by the over-voltage. I looked briefly at the motor and pulled the rather complicated harnesses from it, but saw no obvious damage.

Is there a simple method to test this motor or what is the opinion of everyone here - worth the effort or just scrap the whole machine?

I'll take advice on the microwave too.

Heartfelt thanks for any advice.

BW207AW3 Old Kelvinator burning smell

Hi. The washer had completed a cycle but left a burning smell and wouldn't turn on. After a short while I tried to turn it on to the rinse cycle to see if the motor was still working. It would start for a split second then stop again. I took the belt off and it looked ok. Put the belt back on and re-balanced the machine (it was a bit out of balance.) I've done two loads since without issue. Any idea on what would have caused the burning odor? Is there any maintenance I could do to help keep the machine in use? It's 23 years old and I think this is the first problem I've had with it.

Whirlpool Washer stops working WHILE spinning

Hi, my washer works normally until it reaches the spin cycle. It starts spinning at a rapid speed and shaking, then stops suddenly. There is still time left on the timer, but it either pauses and forces you to press start to continue, or completely shuts off on its own. It gets some of the water out, but the clothes are still more soggy than normal.

If after it stops, you try putting it on the drain and spin only cycle, as soon as you start it, some water comes out of the pump.

There are no error codes, even when I ran diagnostics test.

What parts could be causing the machine to malfunction in this way?

It is a Whirlpool Model #WFW8300SW04

Bosch Avantixx Washing Machine door is jammed

Hi all,

My washing machine door is jammed with all my clothes inside. :( Any help would be appreciated.

Here are some details:

Make: Bosch Avantixx

Model No: wvh28440au

What have I tried so far

1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqG0muS8hTc
Tried putting the knife in, didn't seem to do anything. I don't want to apply too much force due to the fear of causing more damage. Has anyone here tried this method?
2. I've also tried pulling the emergency door unlock cord. But can't get it budge downwards.
3. I've tried turning off the power and back on (through the mains, since I don't have access to the plug point for the machine)

When did it happen?
After an afternoon wash. When I went to open the door, it was just stuck.

More details
I see a blinking key sign, which according to the manual is a misalignment.
The machine just about five years old.

Thanks in advance for any help!

GHW9100LW1 spin issues

I’m having problems with my washer. If I put in a small load of clothes, the washer will not complete the wash cycle. It will get to the point of spinning out the water, spins for a bit then it will stop and then the display begins to blink. After a couple of minutes the pump starts up like it’s going to start to spin then it will shut off after about 10 seconds and the start/stop cycle continues. It's strange though, if I put in a large load, the washer will work just fine. I’ve ran it through the diagnostic procedure and it complete that with no errors at all. I’m stumped as to what the problem may be. I’ve replaced the computer with a known good one and it does the same thing. I have not tested the motor or MCU yet. Any ideas?

Whirlpool Duet won't spin, drain pump running

Whirlpool front load Duet washer, model WFW9151YW00, won't spin. Pump was replaced. Control board replaced. Pressure switch replaced. Nothing changed. No error code shows when it gets to spin cycle, just keeps trying to pump. Pump sounds like it's pushing water back and forth, or cycling for about 5 minutes during spin cycle, then machine stops and door unlocks...end of wash cycle. So the machine fills fine, washes fine, drains fine until it gets to needing to spin and the pump just keeps trying to pump what seems to be a small amount of water left but never gets to any significant spin, sometimes I get a few turns but that's it. In diagnostic mode with nothing in the washer it spins briefly and then stops. There is what appears a F3 E2 error code in the history that comes up during diagnostic mode but that error code is apparently linked to the temperature. Thinking to replace motor that comes with the motor control unit attached but getting tired of replacing parts. Any ideas? Can it be a balance issue? Shocks seem OK. Is there an out of balance sensor on these? I couldn't find one. It doesn't appear to knock or bang when running although hard to tell since it won't spin with any clothing in it except for a few slow turns.
Thanks for any help with this. Really would like to figure it out.

Washer noise on spin cycle after replacing clutch

Hello,

My washer machine was inconsistently not starting the spin cycle. Would work sometimes but not others and was getting worse. I noticed while watching it with the door open and the door button pushed down that when it switched to spin and didnt spin, if I open and closed the door, it would generally start to spin. But I digress....

Purchased a timer but never replaced it. After reading it seemed it may be the clutch. I replaced the clutch and it starting making a noise at start of the spin cycle (youtube video attached). Thought I did something wrong so pulled it all apart. Put it back together taking care to make sure things were lined up correctly but no change.

Any ideas?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3SUgXzVOhw

I replaced the timer too since I had it.

LG Wahing Machine WFT1060EP Won't drain (OE error code)

My LG washer stops at the spin cycle and doesn't drain. Eventually it displays an OE error code and stays full of water. There does not seem to be a blockage in the hoses, as I can get the water to rush out by lowering the drain hose into a bucket. I have been trying to troubleshoot, here's what I know:

  • there were two items (bra underwire and bobby pin) in the drain clean-out area, but not stuck in the impellor
  • there is a rattling noise when the pump should be on (seems to be the impellor rattling within the pump -- should it be loose?)
  • at the start of the spin cycle, the pins to connect the pump receive 140 VAC
  • resistance of the pump motor is 15 ohms

Any advice for troubleshooting this would be appreciated.

Frigidaire Effinity ATFB7000ES) Drain nornammly but does not Spin in High Speed

Washer drains fine during normal wash and rinse cycles.
Washer does not appear to be draining correctly due to no high speed spin.
Drain Strainer was clean.

From Reading the other blog post this appears to possibly be the door latch switch.
Can someone please provide any further explanation.
Is there a method I can jump out the switch?
Or do I need to order new switch and replace?

Could there be another cause?

Thank you in advance Cary

ge stackable washer/dryer leaking at the top of the tub

Our washer is leaving a puddle on the floor in the front left corner. I took the front panel off and watched many cycles. I noticed the ring (trough) at the top of the tub has soapy water and it runs around the trough to the left side where it runs down the side of the outside of the tub and eventually to the floor. The water is not there throughout the cycle, but is there after it. Cannot find where the water comes from to fill the trough.:wall:

Not agitating

Good morning, Kind Folks. My first post, so please be nice. Lol. My stack-able is not agitating. Tub fills up and i hear the motor hum, but then the cycle stops. Even the timer. But if i put it on spin, it pumps the water out (pump and motor is separate. i took the front cover off) and completes the cycle after it spins. Does anyone have an idea what it could be? Any help right now would be greatly appreciated. I want to thank you in advance.

Agitator Bolt stuck but reotates

I've read lots of posts about people whose agitator bolt is unmovable. Mine turns, fine, but seems to be stripped. It sound like it's threaded into plastic and it just spins around with a light thumping sound. I've tapped on it. I've tried to aggressive pull the agitator, but it seems like it's firmly in place. I can't drill it out, at least not easily. Not sure how to proceed.

Should I just break it out and replace everything? Does this mean the transmission bad?

Samsung WF350ANW/XAA: no spin, no agitate, 3E3, tub hard to turn

Hello all, first time poster here and in serious need of help. I have browsed the forum for similar symptoms but am uncertain of the way to go.

Washer: Samsung wf350anw/xaa, from Oct 2011
Symptom: tub does not tumble or spin, empty oo not

Details: Everything was working fine until suddenly, with a new cycle started, no agitation. The tub jerks a bit back and forth, not much, about 1-inch. No spin during that phase. Entire cycle completes without an error code shown.

Doing the spin test, with an empty tub, displays error 3E3. However, on another try, the spin test shows 1150, motor sounded like it was spinning freely and quickly ramped up and kept going. No error was shown for a while so I stopped the test because the tub was not spinning. A few more spin tests showed the 3E3 code immediately.

Back to the tub, turning it by hand is difficult. Turning it back and forth sometimes works, sometimes gets stuck as if something is jammed behind tub. Feeling around tub, seems no way I can get anything in there to investigate.

I cleaned the front filter, quite a bit of crap in it but water takes in and drains fine. Removed cover to access motor. The rotor spins freely - mostly. At times it would get stuck and stop. Removed it, seems fine, no scoring or anything foreign. Removed stator, seems fine. Turning the clutch (?) shaft, it turns well with a some resistance but eventually stops.

I decided to reintall the stator and rotor but now the rotor has a little resistance when turning, it's not as smooth as before, almost sounds like it's scraping. I didn't mark the original location before removing it so is there a special orientation for it?

So, that's pretty much it. Any help appreciated.

WM2455HW LG Tromm rotor/stator issue

My washer recently stopped spinning. Before it stopped it was making a loud noise. I took the panel off the back and found that some of the magnets on the rotor were broken. There was also a lot of black "dust". I ended up replacing the rotor and stator. When I start up the machine, it works, but it sounds like the rotor and stator are rubbing against each other. Any ideas on what could be causing that?

WM1814CW LG Washer - Rapid drumming noise - leads to eventual DE error code - Video Included

About 15 minutes into a washing cycle the washer stops moving/doing anything and starts making a rapid drumming noise.

Video here:

link to video https://youtu.be/OYTZ-RYYW5Y

After about 23 minutes of total time (8 minutes since it started drumming) is stops and throws a DE error code for door error. Which is odd, considering the noise seems to be coming from within the washing unit and not the door/latch area. Inspection of the door and latch looks great.

I've drained it, and checked the filter basket on the bottom and both looked normal.

Thoughts or suggested troubleshooting tips?

WM3470HWA LG FL rear tub seal leaks

Hi, all.

While I've generally and otherwise liked the two LG front-load washers I've owned (the first, a WM2277, and the more recent, a WM3470), both of them had (2277)/have (3470) developed a rear tub seal leak. I replaced the seal and bearings in the 2277, and eventually replaced with the 3470 set -- only to have the same problem years later.

Maybe there really is no good answer to this question, but is there anything in particular that lends itself to these seals failing as they seem to? Just an example of a part or design poorly capable of withstanding routine washer activity? Why do these things seem to give out as easily as they do? My wife and I don't abuse these appliances; we have no children and aren't constantly running them.

Is there any realistic means of prevention (aside from "don't buy one," "don't use it," or other such avoidance-based obviousness), maintenance, or other constructive behavior that can help prolong the useful life of this seemingly troubled part of the assembly?

Thanks in advance.

Did LG front load washers improved over 6 year??

Hi folks!

We purchased a combo of LG front load washer/dryer 6 years ago, model of the washer is WM2350HWC and back in 2011, it have some of the best rating on the market. Since day #1, we totally hate the washer (no issue with dryer) because it are replacing a dead 10yo GE top load agitator washer (non-HE) and the LG HE demonstrate a poor washing capacity for heavy stained clothes (we have two kids) but finally we get over it because apparently this is just how HE washer work, less water, less washing capacity for extreme stain... my mom have Samsung front load and she experience same thing with very heavy stain. So we get over it and learn to live with it.

Whatever, the main problem of the LG washer 6 years later is we can't get rid of molds and bad musty smell into the washer, even after 5+ successive TUB CLEAN cycle using strong cleaners such as AFFRESH and TIDE tub cleaners, bad smell is still there. Of course door gasket as been deeply cleaned and water filter is clean too. Moreover, as for the door gasket, even after manually deep cleaning it every 10-15 days, it's always full of mold if we pull on it to unfold it... but this is a known issue as LG is actually facing a law suit for mold in door gasket in the US but for 2004-2006 models and we have the 2011 model, but who knows...

The conclusion is we actually need to wash and re-wash clean clothes 2+ times with hot water cycle to get rid of musty smell on our clothes. So the water and energy we saved with HE over traditional washer (non-HE) is lost as we wash every clothes 2 to 3 successive times and probably use more energy and more water than old traditional washer.

Now the question is : did front loader washer design improved (especially door gasket) over 6 years and what would be a good washer for you in 2017/2018 (brand/model please)?? We also consider to go back to top-load (real HE (no agitator) or semi-HE with agitator) for several reasons such as constant leaking front load door as soon as the door's gasket is a bit dirty or have any obstruction (such as a loose thread from a clothe, etc).

Thank you so much!

WM3770 Brand new LG washer dripping water from boot/gasket valve.

I just received my brand new hours old LG washer. I noticed after the washer is done and I open the door that it is dripping a lot of water from this orange valve that’s on top of the boot/gasket. I wipe the seal and that valve, but it drips off and on.

I’ve never had a washer have this valve on the upper gasket. Did I get a defective machine, or is this dripping normal? I don’t want to have to go back and repeatedly wipe it up from time to time, not to mention any standing water could cause mold growth over time.Click image for larger version.  Name: C8435C05-E559-47C6-BE7A-3B2E42E9932F.jpg  Views: 6  Size: 128.8 KB  ID: 35126

Speed Queen Top Loader Tub Seal Replacement

I don't have this problem yet, but I'm reading about the dreaded tub seal replacement and would like to have the tools available just in case (and I could use a set of gear pullers).

Speed Queen uses an agitator drive bell (39508P)

http://ift.tt/2fGkYGb

that requires a special tool (294P4 or TJ294P4). The 294P4 is about $82:

http://ift.tt/2fFvwoX

I'm wondering if a generic gear puller would be adequate to replace the drive bell? If so, would a 6" or 4" be better. Here's the gear puller kit I'm thinking about, but I'm also open to recommendations:

Top Load Kenmore Elite leaking- cannot find source

This machine is made by LG. So far, have not found more information on this model leaking. I took off the back panel and ran a rinse/spin cycle. Some droplets of water were leaking down the side of the outer plastic housing surrounding the drum. During the entire cycle...no water leaked from the drain pump, tub to pump hose, or drain hose. More water leaks during the wash cycle. It does not leak ALL the time, maybe only 80%. My guess is water inlet valve assembly. Any info regarding experience with this issue would be much appreciated.

WM1812CW Fixed the Bearings & Seals- Did I fix the wrong thing or mess something up?

I have an LG WM1812CW washing machine. It started doing a weird spinning that sounded like a jet plane. Then it started making horrible noises. So, I just replaced both bearings, seal and tub gasket. The bearings were terrible. Put it back together and tested it spinning manually and then continued. However, we never checked after we reinstalled the stator assembly and cover. There was a crack in one of the magnets but everything looked ok except a fair amount of rust color which seems like it’s not uncommon looking at some videos. Is it possible we didn’t install the stator properly or too tightly, etc…Or could that little crack matter? So, we plugged it in and now it makes a sound when spinning almost like it’s hitting something or catching on something.

We pulled the top off and spun it manually and as stated above, it sounds and feels like the metal tub is catching something. Could the problem be the stator or the rotor assembly? Did I fix the wrong thing?

Any thoughts?

I appreciate the help!

Also, this is the video I used to repair

Bosch WVG30461GB won't lock and start

Hello,

It is my first post here, and I hope I will find some help about this matter.

I have this washing machine Bosch WVG30461GB, which started acting up a while back. So I'd click on the start button, after having selected the program, the door would click once and then click again, the machine would beep twice, the lock icon won't come on and the machine won't start.

It used to be intermittent, and in the instances where it didn't start, retrying a few times usually got it working again.

About a week ago the issue became permanent, no matter how much I retry the issue persists.

After having checked the obvious things, including no blockages or anything stuck in the pump. I looked a lot on the internet, and it seems most answers pointed towards the interlock being the faulty part, I took it out, bought a new one and installed it, but nothing changed the issue is still the exact same.

An additional thing I did actually try, is I took the old interlock, opened it, removed the locking mechanism from it (the mechanical tongue that locks the door), and then I forced the solenoid in the locked position, low and behold the machine starts, most of the time, sometimes it still doesn't but retrying a couple of times usually works. obviously this is not very safe as the door can be opened at any time.

The last test I did is I started disconnecting the different parts of the machine one by one thinking that if there was a short circuit somewhere this might help me find it, but none of this helped, every time I disconnected something and tried it did the same exact thing. except a couple sensors that when disconnected didn't allow me to click the start button in the first place.

So here I am super confused about what the issue might be. Sorry about the long post, but I thought the more information I give the better you would be able to diagnose and hopefully shed some light on what might be going on.

I thank you all in advance.

Regards.

Kenmore Top Loading High Efficiency Washer

The lid lock light was blinking and the washer would not work. I figured out how to run a diagnostic on it as well as what the diagnostic determined the issue to be. Long story short...I changed the actuator. The washer then worked and the wash cycle completes and shuts off normally. Then a few minutes later it turns on automatically without me touching the cancel/start/pause button. i have even tried unplugging for a few minutes and plugging it back in...but once its plugged back in it starts a cycle again without pressing start. Also, I laid the washer on its front belly to access underneath where the actuator is installed...and ever since I replaced the actuator... not only does it continuously turn on but during spin cycle it is so loud it sounds like an airplane taking off.

Thank you for any guidance...

FIXED WFMC3301UC/06 Bosch Nexxt 500 Series Washer leaking

My Bosch Nexxt 500 Series front loading washer just started leaking yesterday. It is a pretty fast leak, too. I know it is not the drain pump as I took the cover off the drain pump and shined a flashlight under the washer. The best way to describe where the leak is coming from is approximately 8-10 inches from the left and 6 - 8 inches from the back. I put it on the drain and spin cycle and saw it leaking maybe 1 drip every 4 to 6 seconds.

Is this repairable without parts (kind of doubt this) or what parts are probably needed and what is the price? The washer is 10 years old and I've already spent about $125 to repair it (drain pump and cold water inlet valve), so if the price of the part is prohibitive, I might just opt for a new washer as I have $200 in Lowe's gift cards. I did see a Maytag and Whirlpool front loading washer there for $719 (4.5 gallon capacity), which is less than I paid for the Bosch 10 years ago. I might opt for another Bosch, but nothing but 2.5 gallon washers there right now, which is too small for our family.

WF337AAW/XAA Solenoid controlled shutoff valves need to be redesigned

Other than needing to unplug and plug the power cord back in to reset a fault a few times, we have had no major problems (knock on wood) with our Samsung washer. One major annoyance has always been the LOUD Solenoid banging when the shut-off valves open or close. Our water hammer arresters finally bit the dust and we replaced both. The water hammer noise from the pipes was solved but not the solenoid noise. Why can't they design a soft open/close valve system that does not make noise or create a water hammer condition ? It shouldn't be rocket science if you ask me. Our laundry room is on the second floor of our house where our bedroom is. The noise from the solenoids is loud enough to wake the dead.

Bosch Nexxt 500 Series Washer leaking

Unable to Separate Top Half of Agitator from Bottom Half

The top of the agitator spins freely CW and CCW. I removed the 7/16" bolt easily, but I cannot separate the top from the bottom. I see a rubber washer still in the center of the shaft. When the bolt was in place, it surrounded it.

The agitator assembly spins with the lower half of the agitator.

I can clearly see that the agitator dogs are worn and need to be replaced, but the top is too deep for me to use my hand or a tool to pull out the agitator dog assembly.

Please help. Thanks!

Agitator/Washplate won't spin during wash cycle.

Within the past two weeks we have been experiencing problems with our Maytag Bravo top load washer. Usually the agitator/wash plate will move during the Sensing cycle and then of course during the Wash cycle. Unfortunately this is not happening so the clothes appear to just sit there during the Wash cycle. However the agitator/wash plate will later move as it should during the Spin cycle, but sounds not right. I have attempted to do a wash without anything in it and of course the agitator/wash plate works as it should during all cycles but it is spinning at warped speed (not sure if that's because it's empty or what). It's like a full load of clothes is preventing it somehow. Of course that's not the only issue, when it's all done, the clothes are still very wet to the point they need to be hand wrung to get the excess water out. I have attempted to remove the wash plate with no luck. I was able to remove the center cap on the wash plate that protects the bolt, and then was able to remove the bolt, the issue is actually getting the wash plate up. It acts stuck like there is something else holding it down, but according to some YouTube videos I saw it should be able to lift right up. I want to see what is going on under the wash plate to see if something (fabric, string, etc) is keeping it from spinning as it should during the Sensing and Wash cycle. I feel like this is an easy fix and was given a quote of $100 just for a service repairman to just walk in our door, not even touch the washer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to have to buy a brand new washer after not even owning this one for 2 years.

Fridgidaire Affinity E5E error

Hi,

I've been having some problems with my fridgidaire washer. The water fills very little then just stops, or sometimes just doesn't do anything when I start the washer. I tried finding the error code and I get the E5E error code, which I think means communication error when I checked. Is there any chance that this is cause by a clogged trap? There is no front panel, I think I'll have to unscrew the top part first and go from there to check the trap. unfortunately our builder stacked the dryer on top of the washer. I'm guessing there's no easy way to get it down. Thanks.

Samsung Front Loader Leaking - Worth Repairing?

Samsung WF210 ANW/XAA, high efficiency, 3.5 gal, 5 years old (bought Feb 2012), used less than twice monthly and not abused. For the past month, it has a small leak (30 cc?) coming from the left rear. I have concrete floors sloping to a drain, meaning about three feet of water exposure, so damage to the floor is not an issue.

It's NOT subject to Samsung's recall.

Apparently, the most common cause of leaks is the water drain pump, located in the left rear.

I haven't diagnosed the leak. What should I do, should I decide to engage is this adventure?

A new OEM water pump costs only about $19 on Amazon, but the DIY video to replace it is about 17 minutes long vs. Whirlpool-made top loader water pump videos of less than 5 minutes, meaning it will probably take me a couple of hours to do.

I'm awaiting deliver of a new top-loader, but the top loader won't be able to handle comforters and blankets.

I have basement space to keep the Samsung and craigslist prices for similar washers are abysmal.

If I do only occasional loads (once every few months of comforters and blankets), do I really need to change the water drain pump? What's the worse that will happen?

If I change the water pump, how likely is this to recur, ie how long do Samsung water pumps last?

Thanks

LSQ9550PW3 Whirlpool Top Loading Washer Leaking

Made in 2005.

Washer has not been used for one month. Has musty smell in tub ("porcelain in steel basket" per underside of lid), but no visible rust in tub. Wiped with vinegar and left lid open.

Reportedly, it had an undetected leak from the right rear for one month which damaged the floor.

Padding on right front is wet, but nowhere else.

Drain pump: dry exterior no foreign bodies inside; gears move easily; no leaks. Removed drain pump easily and filled with water over sink; no leak. Motor spline that connects to drain pump without rust.

Drain pump hoses: clamps intact; dry; no leaks

Filled tub with water, power off; no leaks observed

Water inlet mixing valves both have continuity; solenoids without blemish; valve screens clear

What do I do next?

Also, the lid switch is on the underside of the cabinet, so I can't stick a screwdriver in it to keep the lid open and observe filling. How do I jump the lid switch?

Thanks!

Frigidaire Affinity front load washer won't final spin

Washer won't final spin. Have seen many submissions on this. When I run it in diagnostic mode, it will spin full bore. The tech sheet says replace latch assembly. I did. Still the same. Should I assume that I got a bad door latch assembly? Perhaps the door strike is bad? Or something else? Thanks a ton.

Tired of Scamsung washers, need recommendations for one without SPIDER ARMATURE issues

Hello everyone! First post here. I am driven here by my outrage with Samsung washers. But apparently it's not unique to Samsung.

Its a long story of how I ended up with two different makes of Samsung front loading HE washers, but irrelevant. Both have issues with balance, due to the armature corroding. I'm sick of it. It's absolutely mind numbingly inexcusable, if not criminal the way they have promoted these washers over the years with bullet points about the stainless steel drum, long warranty on the drum, direct drive motor, etc. And then to put these sky high price tags on them. The drum will never corrode! It's stainless steel! Hooray! What we aren't telling you, is that what is behind the drum cannot, will not, stand up to chemicals! It will start falling apart, clogging up and ruining your drain pump, stinking up your clothes with crevices and nooks and crannies that hold all sorts of residue. As it falls apart, it will get more and more out of balance, your clothes will take longer to wash, the little shock things will not be able to handle the balance issues, etc. The replacement parts are expensive, and if you aren't doing it yourself, it's financially impractical to have it serviced! I've put 15 years on the "old style" top loader with the agitator in the center, and paid $200-$300 for those, and yet these "HE" front loaders are routinely $800+ and fall apart after a few years. It's criminal.

So I am asking for your advice. Thanks in advance. I really need to go get a new washer this weekend. I have two that I am going to get rid of. I am sick of the problems.

Are ANY high efficiency washers free of this corroding armature and the associated balance problem?
Or do I need to go back to the old style washer?

OE error on Kenmore Elite Front loading Washer... will tumble but not spin.

Kenmore Elite front-loading washer was getting an OE error code. Changed Drain pump motor and verified no blockages. Started washer and same result. Found and performed a diagnostic test mode procedure, and found all diagnostic tests good except for the "low speed spin" and "high speed spin" tests.

Washer will tumble in both the clockwise and counterclockwise directions (tests #1 and #8) but will not spin (tests #2 and #3). When entering into test #2 (low speed spin) and #3(high speed spin), the drain pump engages and you can hear water draining the drain hose into the house drain, but without the spin cycle engaging the clothes are WET!

Any ideas why it will tumble but not engage to the higher speeds for the spin cycles?

WT1501CW Problems with leaking?

I'm part of a washer replacement program with my energy company. My washer is 21 years old so the energy company will swap it out with a new machine for free. The two available machines are the front loading Whirlpool or a top loading LG. The space is too small for the Whirlpool (the front door has a really bulgy rim around it) but I was warned that the top loading LG has had problems with leaking.

Does anyone know if this is true? Does the LG WT1501CW leak? Why does it leak? Should I not select this machine? How difficult is it to fix?

If I take the Whirlpool I would have to modify my laundry space with some construction.

Washer intermittently not spinning

Hi - I suspect I may have a imminent component failure on my Kenmore 700 series washer.

About every 20 loads, the load will not spin out, although the agitator is fine and the water does drain. It is similar to the issue described in this thread, just far more intermittent.

Could this situation also occur if insufficient water amount is used for a load? I ask because it seems to happen on the Low and Low/Med water level settings.

Thoughts?

Just Bought Speed Queen Washer. Your Thoughts: Prev Maintenance and Tools?

Hi,

I have a 2012 Samsung front loading washer that's leaking from the left rear. This is consistent with the water drain pump and/or hoses going out. Sadly, the extended warranty just expired and I've been gentle with it.

Three days ago, I bought a Speed Queen. Delivery should be by the end of next week.

It's a top-loader with mechanical dials. Here's the model number:

AWN432SP113TW04

and a link to specs:

http://ift.tt/2kxuCLS

I'm willing to do preventive maintenance (eg clean lint screen and ducts), but I don't want the drama of an intermittent problem like I'm having with my Kenmore dryer..

I run about one load per week with some clothes very dirty due to working on my car and the house.

I live in an area prone to rust (eg hand tools rust quickly), but it's not cost-effective to run a dehumidifier. My current washer and dryer has some surface rust, probably due to dings/scratches (although my Samsung had a circular rust spot on top, so I must have set something obnoxious on there).

I'm the type of person who wants my appliances to last a long time, and I've been through a Maytag Neptune and a 4 year-old leaking Samsung front loader (not covered by the recall/class action lawsuit).

What are common problems with this model?

The leaking tub seal replacement repair is scary! Anything I can do to reduce the chance of having to do that repair?

The washer needs two special tools:

725P3 which is a kit including the hex nut wrench, spring hook, and two agitator hooks

294P4 or TJ294P4 (agitator drive bell puller) for Drive Bell 39508P

They're a bit pricey. Any inexpensive places to find them?

The drive bell looks like a generic 4" gear puller would work. Any thoughts on that?

How hard is it to get the agitator hex nut off?

Should I loosen it right after the warranty expires, then put anti-seize on the threads? Ditto with anti-seize on any other components?

Are there any other special tools I should have?

FYI, I posted a similar query in the dryer section for a Speed Queen gas dryer I'm planning on getting. What preventive maintenance do you recommend that I do under warranty that won't void the warranty?

Any suggestions about rust prevention?

After the 3 year warranty expires, what sort of additional preventive maintenance should I do?

Are there parts that I should have on hand and/or replace on a preventive basis, like some people do on their cars?

The motors are pricey. Have you rebuilt them or had a motor shop do that? If so, where do you find replacement bearings and carbon brushes?

Is the motor brush kit/assembly part number 927P3P used in this motor?

Ditto with transmissions. There is a pricey ($70) transmission rebuild kit, p/n RB150004, S/N9501 that contains two (silicone?) tubes 24 oz of transmission fluid, CW Trans F-94, 27243P for $22 and a rectangular block. I presume that synthetic car automatic transmission fluid and automotive gasket sealer would be more than adequate?

I suppose Youtube has videos on repairing Speed Queen dryers. Any ones in particular that I should study?

I bought it on my Visa, so I get an extra year extended warranty. They told me that if I have a problem during the extended warranty period, I can get any professional appliance repair person (eg independent shop), to provide a written diagnosis. Submit the diagnosis, warranty card, and receipt to them. Actually, I can submit the latter two on-line to make things easier. They'll reimburse me cash and I can either repair it myself, have a tech repair it, or buy a new unit.

I've never deal with a credit card extended warranty. Any suggestions for dealing with extended warranty service?

Thanks!

WA456DRHDWR Samsung washer, shake in spin and unbalanced load DC

Hello Everyone

This washer has me stumped and am wondering if any of you might know why its doing what its doing. The cycle goes through great until the second wash at 20 minutes left. It will start to shake in spin and go back to the 27 minute count , refill and agitate - it will repeat this again and again until it goes into unbalanced load DC. I am wondering if it senses an imbalance and is trying to rectify it? Everything seems level and oh by the way it doesnt do this with no clothes. Could there be something im missing in the suspension of this machine ? Thanks for anything Gordiel

Out of ideas

I've had this washer since it was new 22 years ago, it has been a very good appliance. It doesn't have all those unneeded options, it just washes clothes. A few weeks ago I started a load and walked away, when I came back I had found that it didn't start agitating, and the belt was smoking. I thought that because the belt was 22 years old, that it may have stretched and would not spin the pulley. I bought a new belt, but they only come in a set of 2 for $23. Put the new one on, and it worked for a week or two, then froze up again and smoked that belt, thinking that I may have not removed all the slack when I installed it,I bought another set. A week went by and i caught it not agitating when it started, so I quickly stopped the machine and removed the front cover, then rotated the transmission by hand, then started the machine and it worked fine. It worked for about 5-10 times normally, then got stuck again and would not agitate on its own, unless i played with the transmission to get it unstuck. So I thought it may need a bearing being so old, replaced the bearing and the seal. To my dismay it works most of the time, but can't trust it, can't keep buying belts, once they get a burn in them. So now I think it must be the transmissions I take the cover off the trans and all the gears look like brand new, can't see anything wrong. Now I am stumped and need some experienced advice on what to do next,I am a good DIY,but lack repair experience on appliances. Any advice? Model LAT8035AAE

Power button LG WM2016CW

My LG power button isn't working - I can unplug it and plug it back in, and it powers up, display comes on and everything works. Then the power button even works for a little bit. I left, wife came home a couple hours later and power button didn't work again. Unplug it (or flip breaker back and forth as plug is a little tough to get to) and works again.

So just wondering if anyone knows what this can be?

This place has helped me with my dishwasher and my inlet valve on washer, so hoping this is easy too!

Thanks guys!

GE washer dryer combo

Mechanically inclined friends, I have a GE washer dryer combo, model number gtup270em5ww that I've replaced to lid lock assembly's on 2 times. The 3rd one seems fine but now the washer won't agitate or spin. I read the service manual and put the machine in diagnostic mode and the code tells me it's an overflow problem. I don't think it is because I can fill and drain the tub in diagnostic mode. I'm hoping it's just a faulty sensor because I don't want to shell out $175 bucks for a new motor and find out that's not the problem. The previous lid lock issues lead me to believe it's a sensor issue. Any thoughts?

Kenmore 600 Washer Agitator

The agitator does not spin during the wash cycle. According to my mother this began happening the other day after it was lifted off of the drive shaft. She claims the problem was temporarily solved by pushing down on the agitator. I took the top and bottom pieces off by lifting them out, and, as I had suspected, the plastic ridges on the lower agitator that engaged with the drive shaft seem to be stripped. There's little plastic ribbons in there as well. Its not so bad that it wont turn the drive shaft if I turn it by hand with the agitator, and they aren't completely gone, but bad enough that it wont spin under load. Is there anything I can do short of replacing the whole thing?

Whirlpool Cabrio problems

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6200SW2 with agitator that is making a moderate squeal or squeak noise while it is sitting in cycle, it just holds/pauses and never advances. It seems to be right before entering the spin/rinse cycle. We have tried using different cycles. I also have tried unplugging the ac power & I also ran the washer thru the diagnostics test sucessfully. Sears repair says it's a bad drive bearing causing the noise & cycle stall per bad bearing. A $359 repair that I don't think will cure the cycle stall problem.

Duet water/bearing noise

I just removed an item that was between the inner and outer baskets by the front seal. While checking to see if there was anything else I turned the inner basket slowly. I can hear what sounds like water and a few bearings rolling with it as I turn the basket. The sound is coming from behind the back side of the basket. When I stop turning the basket it stops a second later as if the water and bearings settled to the bottom. I removed the sump hose and the other connections on the back and top of the outer drum and used a flashlight to look between them . There is nothing in there especially water. Is that sound normal and I just happened to notice it?
