My 5 year old washer has recently started making a terriblly loud grinding noise during agitation. The wash plate will spin freely- I removed last night and the teeth are not completely smooth so I’m not sure if this is the issue or not. When I put the plate back and tightened the bolt it had resistance and would move the tub when I tried spinning the plate by hand. After one load of wash though the plate is back to spinning freely. Not sure if I should replace the hub and the wash plate, or just the wash plate?
