Ok I have a top loading roper washer that's around 8 years old. For the last few months its developed an issue with advancing through cycles. What it does is: it fills, goes through wash cycle, then stops. After it sits a while you can hear a slight buzz which sounds like its trying to advance but it doesn't. It last about 8-10 seconds. Its not loud and it stops with nothing happening thereafter. The washer will sit full of water at that point. If I leave it alone eventually it will go through the cycles but we are talking about literally letting it sit overnight to finish a load. 4 or 5 hours or more! I have replaced the lid switch and the timer after reading that they could be the issue. Still didn't help. I really don't want to sink a ton of money in it but I cant help but think that its fixable since it will eventually finish the wash but it may take all night. There is one very sure fire way to get it to finish the cycles. I unplug it and let it sit for 15 or 20 minutes. At that point I can hear the slight buzz again after plugging it back in and then it eventually advances. Or after plugging it back in I manually advance it but again I have to unplug it and wait to do either of those options. Once it has stopped after the wash cycle manually advancing the knob does nothing. It will not restart. I either have to unplug it and wait 15 minutes and plug it back in or just wait for hours on end before it finally advances. Sometimes even waiting for hours doesn't work but the unplug, wait, plug back in method does. Any ideas where I have already replaced the timer and lid switch??? Thanks so much. What an awesome forum.
