I own a Maytag dishwasher (MDB6769PAW0) and we keep getting a black/brown greasy like substance built up over a period of time. To realistically keep it clean, I would have to take the inside apart monthly. If I wait longer the buildup can grow quickly.
What I have done so far. I checked to make sure my dishwasher drains. We heat the water in the sink and run the disposal before starting the washing. The dishwasher drain-line is it elevated between the dishwasher and sink. We have tried the two or three in one pods, liquid detergent, powder detergent mixed with lemi-shine. We also use a rinse-aid. The last time I cleaned the dishwasher I pulled everything I could out and cleaned with bleach. I have cleaned the drain line and replaced the feed line. I am still getting slow buildup.
We live in the pacific northwest, we don't have hard water where we live or high humidity. This was never an issue with our last dishwasher. I have replaced the heat element and my dishes come out dry, but there is water on the door and roof of the dishwasher. I have also replaced the food chopper. Before I pay for a service tech, which is about half the cost of a new dishwasher, I am hoping there something I can learn from this forum.
I am including a few photos, which show what the substance looks like. This is an more extreme example of the buildup, we don't let it get this bad anymore.
Thank you
