Kenmore Front Load Washer Only Spins at High Speed

The washer recently stopped powering on and during inspection I found a bad noise filter. A fuse in the filter melted. I replaced the noise filter and the washer turns right on again. However, since changing this part, the washer is now stuck on 'Extra High' spin speed. I can select 'No Spin' and that works, but anytime I select Low, Medium or High, it only runs on Extra High speed. It is horribly loud on this speed and feels like the washer is going to lift off the ground. Its working but I'm afraid if I allow it to use Extra High it will fry the motor or bearings soon. Can the noise filter replacement really have that much affect on the sin speed? I've unplugged and re-seated all the connections but nothing is helping. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Washing machine getting fried while draining

Hello everyone,

The reason for my post is my tenant (I own a duplex) has bought two washers in the past two days and both of them have had their electrical components fried when the washer begins the draining process.

Seems very strange because I figured any electrical issue would be prevented by the breaker tripping (<4 yr old electrical box).

Anyways, I don't have specifics on the washer because I didn't purchase it. I searched the internet for a decent bit and couldn't find any information on this happening to others.

I understand I haven't provided a lot of details here, but I'm just trying to understand what potentially could cause this. Any thoughts or experiences related to this are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben

Kenmore Laundry Center starts spinning but then stops

Hi everyone,

New to the forum and it looks to be a great resource. I have an issue with my stacked Kenmore Washer/Dryer Laundry Center and hopeful someone out there may be able to help me pinpoint the exact cause.

So the washer will fill with water and when the time comes to begin agitating, it will start to agitate (one revolution to either right or left) and then stop. The 'WASH' light will then flash. If I press the 'Start/Pause' button it will agitate in the opposite direction (again one revolution) and then stop and the wash light will again flash. I can't get it to agitate if I keep pressing the start/pause button repeatedly.

If I set it to 'SPIN' only cycle, it will drain the water completely and then as soon as the spin cycle is to begin, it will start spinning and after a 1-2 seconds, it will stop and the wash light flashes. Important to note, the lid lock light is illuminated red and the lid is in fact locked.

I took the front panel off the washer to see what is happening down by the belt and motor area. The white colored plate with teeth will drop down and engage the black plate with teeth and spin the tub, but as I stated earlier only for 1-2 seconds.

Can someone help?! Thanks, Mark

Load spinning clockwise during agitation cycle

in a nutshell, my washer isn't agitating like it should. as the action of agitation is supposed to happen, the tub spins and load spins instead of agitating. the tub seems to want to index as the agitator is engaged, but clothes gets wrapped around the agitator and and everything spins. I tried applying a little pressure by hand to feel how much torque or resistance I could apply to the agitator, and the agitator almost comes to a stop with some some firm pressure; not sure if this is any indicator, but thought I'd share.

I did video what was going and can be seen here https://youtu.be/vLR6pKjjY70 ; if this link works.

I'm ready to throw in the towel on this washer after 6 years and start looking for a new washer, but if I can repair for a fraction of the cost of a new one, I'll sure as heck try to repair.
