LG washer - Teeth in the center of the rotor have eroded away

My front loader was not spinning and was making a grinding noise. The pump was still working so I replaced the stator and that fixed the problem.

Upon replacing the stator, I noticed that the teeth in the center of the rotor that align into the grooves of the tub shaft have eroded away. Does where the tub shaft's grooves and the rotor's teeth slide together help to grip and spin the tub? Or is that the job of the magnets.?

Like I said it's now spinning fine and the teeth in the center of new rotors look kind of weak and not fit to do the job of holding the the tub shaft to make it spin.

The teeth in the center of the rotor looks as if it's just to align the two parts together more than help them work like gears and turn each other but than again what do I know maybe the stripped center of the rotor is going to eventually ruin the stator again.

So, does anyone know if I need to replace the rotor?
